Windermere

Windermere is a rapidly deployable flood barrier system. The barrier is assembled through a series of interlocking units, which when assembled actually fill with the rising flood waters. This combined with the weighted connection keys ensure an assembled barrier will always be denser than the flood water. No construction work is required and the barrier system can be rapidly deployed. It is light weight, low cost and is more effective than sandbagging. The Windermere flood defence barriers are patent protected technology and provides innovative, pragmatic and cost effective flood prevention. Common uses are for:       

• Demountable flood defence barrier
• Road traffic delineator barrier
• Deployable reservoir system.

Technical

Each flood prevention pod incorporates a unique foam gasket base. When the foam gasket is placed under pressure by the self-filling units a seal with the ground is created. The beauty of this patented flood prevention system is that no bolting to the ground is required. It also means that when the flood waters recede, the pods empty themselves and become light enough to be carried away. They are also a much more cost effective and reliable alternative to flood sandbags. The barrier system includes The Multi-Hub pod and can be assembled on to both the 0.5m and 0.9m Windermere flood barrier system. It allows you to meet various gaps and angles with ease. It enables you to make a clean and rapid connection to in-situ objects such as walls and acts as a 60 to 90º Corner unit. The Windermere barrier is suitable for use on typical hard standings such as roads, pavements, pathways. Also on grass or soil, depending on undulations. It is not recommended for use on gravel or polished surfaces. To buy online, you will need to order the following:

• The number of barrier units you require (choose between 0.5m high and 0.9m high) in your selection of colours. The most popular combinations are red and white, but it is entirely up to you
• Connection keys to connect pairs of barrier units and barrier units with multi-hubs
• A minimum of two multi-hubs to secure the ends
• A handle to help you position the connection keys
